La artesanía de hierro forjado, también conocida como "Pitva Art", es una forma de arte antigua creada por una comunidad tribal muy pequeña de Bastar, Chhattisgarh. Utilizan principalmente piezas de hierro de desecho o sobrantes, las cortan manualmente con cincel y martillo y las calientan con carbón. La mayoría de las figuras humanas y animales están hechas de una sola pieza de chapa mediante el trabajo manual de martilleo de una pieza de metal caliente. Para hacer una unión, utilizan remaches. NO se utilizan máquinas de soldar, máquinas de cortar ni moldes para hacer un artefacto, lo que lo convierte en una verdadera artesanía. Cuando tocas y sientes el producto, puedes ver el arduo trabajo detrás de cada pieza.
Después de la fabricación, cada pieza es tratada con óxido rojo para evitar la oxidación en el futuro, y luego se aplican tres capas de pintura al óleo (acabado mate) para terminar el producto. Para el mantenimiento, a largo plazo, recomendamos limpiarlo suavemente con algodón y aceite. Así, cada pieza durará toda la vida.

Crafting Technique
Wrought iron handicraft, also known as "Pitwa Art," is a centuries-old art form created by a small tribal community in Bastar, Chhattisgarh. They mostly use scrap or discarded iron pieces, cut them by hand with a chisel and hammer, and heat them with charcoal. Almost all of the human and animal figures are made from a single piece of sheet metal hammered by hand. Rivets are used to make a joint. No Welding machine, cutting machine, or mould is used to create an artefact, making it a true handicraft.

Meet The Artist
Tatiram Vishwakarma, a resident of the Kidei Chhepda in the Maoist-affected Kondagaon area of Chhattisgarh. Man renowned figure in the field of iron craft in the Bastar region of his state. Tatiram picked up the art of blacksmithing at the ripe old age of 14, thanks to his forefathers.
